MEGHAN NELLIGAN
A graduate of Syracuse University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, a minor in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies. During my undergraduate years, I served as the President of a mental health organization, Active Minds and the External Philanthropy Chair with Delta Phi Epsilon.
In my free time, I volunteer for organizations such as Special Olympics and the Crisis Text Line. As a creative writer, I have managed a poetry site and Instagram account for years. Recently, nine original poems of mine were published in literary magazines. I also have a Wordpress blog and worked for two years as a freelance writer for a variety of organizations including Captivate Talent, Mental Health Affairs, WordAgents, DennyWrites, and Cubo Ai amongst others.
Upon graduating, I worked as an intern on the Communications team at Active Minds, Inc. where I wrote blog pieces, created social content, and engaged in social outreach amongst more. Furthermore, I worked with Active Minds, Inc. as a Tour Coordinator for their award-winning suicide prevention display, Send Silence Packing.
Currently, I am working as the PR Manager for The Jed Foundation (JED) which works to protect the emotional health of teens and young adults and prevent suicide. In this role, I assist in public relations campaigns to expose JED’s brand, monitor media mentions, write external and internal documents such as press releases, social media posts, fact sheets, and pitch media stories across local, regional, and national outlets.
